Oct 13, 2013: CMSA-Atlanta Celebrates the Case Management Week.

Happy 2013 Case Management Week

On Friday September 30, 2013 the United States Senate passed S. RES. 214, a resolution declaring the week of October 13-19, 2013 as "National Case Management Week", to recognize the value of case management in improving healthcare outcomes for patients. Working with the American Case Management Association and the Case Management Society of American, Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) and Senator John Boozeman (R-AR) presented this resolution in August and it passed unanimously. This resolution honors the case management professional for our contributions to health care. Nathan Deal , governor of the State of Georgia, has proclaimed October 13-19, 2013 as Case Management Week in Georgia and has signed the 2013 proclamation for Georgia Case Manager Week.

Case managers are a vital component of health care and we are critical to the quality of health care for the patients we interact with. I am honored to be counted in your numbers. The Atlanta chapter of CMSA is a strong professional body of knowledge.
We each work hard at keeping current with our practice. We go beyond what is required by attending chapter meetings and conferences to enrich our knowledge and to keep current with health care trends and practices. The chapter is strong because of you. You are instrumental in our growth as a chapter and as case managers. It is not to late to attend the annual conference October 19 th, …But sign up now if you want to attend. Mark your calendar for November 12th the next chapter meeting. Go to our web site cmsa-atlanta.org to RSVP for meetings.

On October 29-30, 2013 case managers from all health care practices and from all over the United States will be in our nation's capital, Washington, D. C. They will be participating in the CMSA's Public Policy and Advocate Summit. This is an opportunity to bring case management "to the forefront of the national healthcare conversation", to talk with our local elected officials about the importance of case management in the delivery of health care in this country. It will also be an opportunity to network and collaborate with industry colleagues on how case management can join together to raise visibility for the profession and communicate our value on the health care team.
This is an exciting and challenging time for the delivery health care in our country. I am sure as we are a collective body of case managers we want to be seen and included as a critical part of the delivery of health care in our practice.

The Case Management Society of America (CMSA) is offering a "Fall into CMSA and see your Career Soar!" campaign. If you are a nonmember or inactive member you can join your professional organization at a discount. Between now and November 30, 2013 enter code FALL 13 on your application at cmsa.org/join to save $30.00 and pay only $ 133.00 for national dues, plus local chapter dues. The Atlanta chapter dues are still only $15.00.

Also note, an attachment of the Proclamation can be viewed on Governor Deal's website, georgia.gov, under the "Constituent Resources" tab, then under Proclamations.

Again I want to wish each of you a very happy Case Management Week.
